On this night tour of Alghero, we'll explore the city's historic center after dark and visit the Corallium Rubrum Association to see its coral tanks and exhibits. To wrap things up, we'll top off the evening with a wine tasting.
Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time in Piazza Porta Terra to kick off our night tour of Alghero and explore its historic center. Here we go!
We'll stop at the foot of Torre Porta Terra, the only visible remnant today of the old walls that once protected the city from within. From there, we'll head to Forte della Maddalena, a 16th-century defensive structure named after the statue that once stood in a niche on the bastion.
After crossing Piazza Civica, we'll reach Piazza del Duomo, where we'll admire the stunning Cattedrale di Santa Maria, both from the outside and within. Then, we'll continue exploring the Jewish Quarter, tucked inside the city's old walls.
Our next stop is the Corallium Rubrum Association. We'll head inside to learn about the conservation work being done in the protected marine area and how coral is processed, and we'll see a tank of live coral alongside various works dedicated to this iconic organism.
To cap off the tour in style, we'll take part in a tasting of 2 regional wines at a bistro in the historic center. Cheers!
Finally, after 2 to 2.5 hours, we'll say our goodbyes at the starting point.
Partial Closures
The coral tank may occasionally be closed for cleaning or maintenance. If this happens, the visit will focus on the association's other rooms and exhibits dedicated to coral.
